Haunt Review: The Valley of Fear

Gwen

Web Address: http://www.valleyoffear.com/

Location: Feasterville, PA (Bucks County)

Valley of Fear is frightfully fun for the whole family.

The Nuts and Bolts:

Valley of Fear offers four haunted attractions: Haunted Hayride, Underworld, Facility, and Zombie Paintball. The prices are reasonable, but are weighted based on heavier dates of attendance. For example if you attend on one of the lighter days (designated on their website) the price is cheaper. You can choose if you want to attend all four attractions or just one or two. I suggest the super fear pass as it includes all four attractions for only $33-$39. I did not upgrade to the fast fear pass as I was smart and attended the attraction on a Sunday right as the doors opened which afforded me pretty quick lines.

There’s no touching at this haunt, though they do get up close and personal on occasion. This attraction is appropriate for most ages (pre-teen and up). It was noted that there were several younger actors also participating in the haunt. Parking was a nominal fee of $5. You don’t have to pack too much money as the haunt does not have a gift shop, but it does have a small concession stand with basic snacks. Read more

Haunt Review: Frightland

Gwen

Web address: http://frightland.com/

Location: Middletown, DE (New Castle County)

Frightland is a perfect blend of fun, fear, and fright.

The Nuts and Bolts:

2016 marks the twentieth year for this established haunt which is situated on about 350 acres of land in Middletown, DE. The location is easy to get to and conveniently located so that patrons from Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, and Pennsylvania can easily make the trip. This haunt is open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays (and some Thursdays) into early November. Frightland prices are EXTREMELY reasonable. They offer eight haunted attractions and a moderately sized carnival for $35. The full upgrade to VIP for all eight attractions (price includes carnival rides) is only $50 and is well worth it. Other noteworthy basics: there are a good number of well-maintained portable johns, there is extensive security onsite, a small gift shop, and there are tons of food options in the carnival section. Parking was a nominal fee of $5 and 100% of this money goes to The Leukemia Research Foundation of Delaware. Generally speaking, if you upgrade to the VIP pass, you will easily enjoy about two hours of heart pounding fun! Read more

Halls of Horror Attraction Review

Gwen

Halls Of Horror

Web address: http://www.hallsofhorror.net

Location: Palmerton, PA (Carbon County)

Full body immersion into the depths of horror

The Nuts and Bolts:

Halls of Horror is one main attraction. Parking is free on the street and there seemed to be plenty of spaces. Entry is $15 to go through the haunt or $25 to upgrade to the Blood Experience. The blood experience is what it sounds like, bloody, messy, and intense! No matter which experience you choose, you will sign a release and the actors WILL touch you. The Blood Experience offers more extreme levels of actor interaction with the guests.

The Waldorf Estate of Fear Attraction Review

Gwen

The Waldorf Estate of Fear

Web address: http://www.waldorfestateoffear.com/index.html

Location: Lehighton, PA (Carbon County)

A haunt for the true horror lover.

The Nuts and Bolts:

This is a smaller haunt located near Country Junction in Carbon County, PA. It has been most known for its Waldorf Hotel haunt and has expanded in recent years and continues to grow and upgrade over time. The price for all three attractions is $35 which is reasonable, although you do not have to partake in every attraction. The haunt is open every Friday and Saturday through October 31st from 7pm. – 11pm. Parking is free, signage leading up to the haunt is good, and the GPS directions on the website are accurate. There is a small midway offering fair-type food and drinks as well as a small area selling t-shirts. Generally speaking this is a pretty family friendly haunt (not over the top, i.e. language, gore). It’s appropriate for most ages from about 11 up. And for the faint of heart, the actors do not touch you.

The Reaper’s Revenge Attraction Review

Gwen

Web Address: http://reapersrevenge.net/

Location: Scranton, PA (Lackawanna County)

Reaper’s Revenge shocks ALL your senses!

Grade: A+

The Nuts and Bolts:

This haunt is settled on about 60 acres of land and all I can say is that they adequately use every single inch. The Reaper’s Revenge experience incorporates four amazing haunts for one reasonable price. (As of October 2015 it’s $35) There is a small fee for parking; however it is completely worth it when you consider how many haunts you get for the price. Make sure you take down the directions from the website as some GPS don’t initially recognize the GPS address given.

The actors in this haunt can touch you. If you do not wish to be touched they offer an option for a glow in the dark necklace so the actors know not to touch you. Even though the four events are continuous, there are always ways to exit early if you need to. Also of important note, there are porta-johns located at each Segway which is extremely helpful for all ages. As an educated guess, not including wait times, I enjoyed at least two hours of horrific fun.
